Taha GUERFEL  President of University
teaches chemistry since 1998, successively as temporary, assistant, assistant professor and after his habilitation in 2011 as lecturer; presently is named as professor at the Preparatory Institute for Engineering Studies of Kairouan and Vice-president of the University of Kairouan in charge of scientific research and international cooperation. He is a founding member of the Tunisian Society of Heterocyclic Chemistry and its Applications and of the Laboratory Electrochemistry, Materials and Environment. His research interests are centered on materials, DFT calculations and physico-chemical investigations methods. He has published over 47 papers, 4 books and presented plenary conferences, posters and oral communications in national and international seminaries.

Dr. Mhemmed Gandour received his bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from Faculty of Sciences of Tunis in 2001, and Masters, PhD, and HDR degrees in Plant Genetics and Molecular Biology from Faculty of Sciences of Tunis in 2004, 2009, and 2015, respectively. Dr. Gandour was recruited at the Centre of Biotechnology of Borj Cedria (CBBC) in 2008, was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor at CBBC in 2011 and Associate Professor (lecturer) at Faculty of Sciences and Technics of Sidi Bouzid (FSTsbz) in 2018. Presently, he is elected as Vice-president of the University of Kairouan in charge of programs, training and professional integration. Dr. Gandour co-authored over 40 publications with Impact Factor, and over 20 international articles as book chapters and proceedings of international congresses. He is a founder member and vice-President of the Tunisian Association of Genetic Resources (TAGR) since 2012 and a founder member and member of the International Brachypodium Steering Committee (IBSC) since 2015. Dr. Gandour has interest in development of genetic resources and use natural variation for identification and characterization of genetic bases for tolerance to abiotic stresses in the model grasses Brachypodium distachyon and their progenitor’s B. hybridum and B. stacei. He established a very important collection of natural populations of Brachypodium annual species.
